Pedestrian struck and killed by train

KYLE, Texas — Police in Kyle are investigating after a pedestrian was struck by a train and killed on Friday afternoon. On Monday, he was identified as 36-year-old JP Burchett.

The incident happened at the Opal Lane train track intersection, according to the Kyle Police Department.

The area is closed to traffic while officials investigate. Drivers are asked to avoid the area until further notice.

Please be safe and avoid walking near railroad tracks. Trains can sneak up on you quicker than your expect. Be sure to thoroughly check both ways if needing to cross a railroad grade crossing.
