Waze navigation app owned by Google will now alert drivers of upcoming railroad crossings.

This is another important step in alerting drivers of dangerous railroad grade crossings, especially if you are driving in an unfamiliar area that may not have lights or signals to warn you on the road.

There are still a lot of dangerous railroad grade crossings in the US that do not signal drivers of an oncoming train, so having a navigation app like Waze to warn you of the upcoming crossing will hopefully increase driver awareness.

It should be noted that the app will not warn you if the railroad crossing is in use or if a train is about to pass by so you should still use precautions while driving.
